Passion & Knowledge
«When for the first time I arrived in the Kafue, now more than 10 years ago, as a wildlife photographer and passionate zoologist, I completely fell in love and decided to change my life. From Italy, my birthplace, I moved my home onto the the banks of the Itezhi – Tezhi Lake, a magical place in the southern section of the national park. I built Konkamoya in this area, a small and intimate lodge with only 4 comfortable tents facing the sunrise on the lakeshore. My aim is to share my passion and my home in the bush with a small number of guests, not more than 8 at the same time, to offer a real close up encounter with Mother Nature in one of the wildest and still less known area of the Kafue NP. That’s why in Konkamoya Lodge our guests will not find scheduled activities and a fixed timetable. We like to design together with you your safari experience, according to your interests and your dreams. For us this is a matter of love and we are never too tired for another thrilling drive late at night to track an elusive aardvark or to find the lions calling nearby during our chats in front of the fireplace under the thousand stars of the African sky. I will wait for you on the shores of the Itezhi –Tezhi Lake, but be aware that you could fall in love like me and change your life forever!»

Born and grown in Milan, Italy, Andrea interests himself with wild animals and plants from when he was a child. He studied Zoology and his love for photography brought him to travel all around the world. In 2007 he discovered Zambia and the Kafue National Park. The variety of biodiversity forced him to return repeatedly in the beautiful national park, until he finally saw the opportunity to turn his studies into work. He now prefers the simple life of the bush, spending most of the year at his Konkamoya Lodge. From 2010 he developed the camp, living between Milan and Zambia and occupying himself with the management of the lodge in the high season (9 months a year) and the marketing in the low season.
Journalist with the suitcase ready, after having directed for many years a tourism magazine in Italy, where she was born in Milan, she left for the world and it’s still no match for her to stop, although she continues to write for some Italian magazines. The friendship with Andrea Porro and a degree in Biology have been fatal: now in Kafue National Park she feels like home. Living between Italy, Zambia and somewhere, when at Konkamoya she collaborates with Andrea to manage the camp, creating the unique “Konkamoya Style”: a mix of wilderness and warm family atmosphere with a special Italian touch. Due to her experience in media and tourism industry, she also is the marketing and communications manager.
